LONDON – part 1

London is a huge city, plenty of things to visit, places to go and pubs to drink a pint! You can spend weeks, months or even years wandering around the city and surely you’ll discover a new interesting spot that you haven’t seen before.However, most of us don’t have that time when we get about London, so here you are some tips and suggestions to help you make the most of that amazing city.
Transport
Although we recommend you to go walking through the city as much as you can, you’ll probably need to move around with public transport at some point. In that case the best option is to get an Oyster Card* and use the “pay as you go” system. You can buy the Oyster Card in any station or ticket stop (there is a £3.00 refundable deposit on new Oyster cards) and then put some credit on it, which you’ll top up as you travel.
Among all the ways of public transport in London, the quickest way to move around is the Tube**, so it is always a good idea to take it while you are visiting the city, especially when the place that you are getting about is far away from the center, such as Wimbledon. Moreover, what is a trip to London without listen the famous “Mind the gap”… The only problem is that the Tube is usually overcrowded, mainly in rush hours. For that reason, it can be a better option to take the bus to visit the center, or even to go walking. You’ll have, for sure, better sites of the city.
There is one regular line in particular – Bus number 15 – that goes past some of the most touristy spots of London: Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Hill… Is like being in a guided tour but cheaper!
One last suggestion about the transport. Once you know what part of the city you want to travel it is always a good idea to visit the Transports for London website – www.tfl.gov.uk – and check if there are any planned disruptions in the Tube, Bus or other services. In this site there are service updates constantly available and other useful information for visitors.
